World Table Tennis Day
World Table Tennis Day was first celebrated in 2015. A few years later, it started to be celebrated all over the world.

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has a goal to promote this sport in different countries, to unite people involved and to promote healthy lifestyles.

The celebration of the 6th of April is devoted to the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

Table tennis has already a history of more than a century. It originated in the UK in the end of the 19th century. In the early 20th century, it spread in many countries, first as an entertainment, and then on a professional level. The current name was received in 1926, when the International Federation of Table Tennis was founded. Until then, the game was known as ping-pong, probably due to the sound of a small ball hit on the table. Table Tennis is also an Olympic sport since 1988.
