Former vice-champion of Summer Olympics Rio 2016 Simon Martirosyan had another wonderful performance at the 109kg weight class European Weightlifting Championship in Batumi, Georgia. The talented weightlifter has won the title of champion, leaving his opponents head-on.
The current world champion Simon Martirosyan showed 427 (192 + 235) kg results. The Armenian weightlifter also won small gold medals in the snatch and lifting exercises.
It is noteworthy that Simon Martirosyan won the title of world champion in the World Weightlifting Championships in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in November last year, 435kg (195+ 240kg) and set world record.
This was the third Armenian medal in the European Weightlifting Championship. Earlier, Hakob Mkrtchyan won the title of the European champion in the 89kg weight category and David Hovhannisyan became bronze medalist.
Arpine Dalalyan (+87 kg), Olympic Vice Champion Gor Minasyan and Ruben Alexanyan (+109 kg) will enter the competition on the last day of the European Championship.
